Maria Tyakina is a furniture and object designer based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Her artistic practice revolves around exploring physicality and reimagining the familiar ways of perceiving everyday objects.
She is interested in exploring the relationship between humans and objects and the ways in which objects mediate our connection to the world.
Through the production of scale models, objects, furniture, and material studies, her work navigates the interplay between form, material, and utility. By balancing research and the physical process of creation, Maria’s approach to material expression enables her to create objects in which abstraction and functionality engage in a dialogue.
