Hans Wilschut
Hans Wilschut (Ridderkerk, 1966) studeerde kort aan de Willem de Kooning Academie waar hij zijn carrière start als schilder. Inmiddels legt hij zich al ruim vijfentwintig jaar toe op fotografie. Urbane landschappen zijn dikwijls zijn onderwerp. Met grote aandacht voor verhalen, het perspectief en zowel bij dag als ’s nachts werkt hij in metropolen over de hele wereld. Hij doet vooraf onderzoek en maakt gebruik van hoogwerkers om totale vrijheid in zijn composities en de juiste standpunten te bereiken. Wilschut werkt op groot formaat, de fotowerken die rijk zijn aan details voelen haast als schilderijen.
Over project Raamwerk: Era, 2017, Seoul
Hans Wilschut’s work ERA for the window exhibition NE Studios depicts a survival cabinet from the Seoul metro. The cabinet represents an era of nuclear threat and can regularly be found in the subway corridors of the metropolis, which also serves as an air raid shelter in the event of a possible attack from North Korea. The work is printed on a transparent canvas, the artist studio remains visible. The studio is the safe domain of the artist. Now, however, a disturbing picture looms in another space from the other side of the planet.
