Born in Salerno, Italy, Grazia Gallo is a visual artist based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Her practice focuses on collecting and assembling mostly found objects and materials, transforming them into new sculpture-installations. Her work plays with color, form and structure, aiming to create a dialogue between the various materials. The site becomes a space of investigation where personal memories are put in relation with the collective ones where time plays an important role as a medium to reflect on personal experiences and cultural heritages.
She is Interested in the idea behind a Home “ a space of negotiation between the multiple subjects who inhabit it, therefore called to find new constant equilibriums in existing as individuals and coexist as a collective”.
Looking at architecture and socio-political structures constantly shaping our private and public realms, her approach towards constructing new worlds of artifacts take inspiration from DIY culture, and attitude that allow her work to engage with a wider audience called to rethink social spaces as those places for negotiations.
Each work is an attempt to recreate environments constructed half way between surreal and everyday’s world where to experience intimacy and togetherness.
Grazia graduated from a Mfa at Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam in 2022.
